Sheekey named acting New Jersey motor vehicle administrator

Gov. Jon Corzine Thursday named Shawn B. Sheekey of Laurel Springs as acting administrator of the state Motor Vehicles Commission, replacing Sharon A. Harrington, who has been appointed to the state Casino Control Commission. Sheekey has served as deputy chief administrator since 2002.
"Shawn Sheekey has been an integral part of the historic reforms that have occurred at the Motor Vehicle Commission," Corzine said. "I am confident that he will continue to move the agency forward and build upon its many accomplishments."
As deputy administrator, Sheekey was instrumental in the overhaul of motor vehicle services beginning with the Fix DMV initiative and the subsequent New Jersey Motor Vehicle Security & Customer Service Act of 2003.
